US Accelerator Lead - West Coast


Job Summary
MathWorks is seeking a marketing and business development professional who will play a key role in defining and implementing the organization’s engagement with the accelerator and startup network in AMER. The right candidate will focus on increasing awareness of MathWorks tools and solutions amongst accelerators and their startups. Learn more on our program page here:  MathWorks Startup Accelerators

Responsibilities
  • Identify influencers in the startup accelerator network - key industry organizations, partners, governmental bodies, private organizations and develop relevant relationships.
  • Generate awareness about MathWorks Accelerator and Start-up program amongst accelerators and facilitate their signing up for the program
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships at the executive and management levels at the accelerators, including external stakeholders like executives, community managers, incubation managers
  • Champion usage of MathWorks software at accelerators by preparing presentations, demos, and application examples of MATLAB & Simulink products relevant to technology focus areas at the accelerator. Identify, track, and influence usage of MathWorks products at accelerators.
  • They will be responsible for developing new business opportunities for startups across AMER. This will involve market research, “new logo” target accelerator identification and contact, day-to-day management of opportunity strategies, and pipeline development.
  • Accurate and realistic reporting, forecasting, and recording all lead generation and opportunity activities via Salesforce.
  • Leverage the tactics from the existing field marketing plan to enhance engagements with the external stakeholders in accelerators
  • Due to the autonomy and level of responsibility in this role, we are looking for someone who can motivate themselves with minimal supervision and would describe themselves as a self-starter.
  • Support of outbound marketing and awareness programs which can include interviewing startups and accelerators for publication in existing channels.
  • Work in partnership with the US startup team to ensure business development activity is aligned and collaboration encouraged

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and be persuasive at a senior level
  • Demonstrated ability to build highly effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Hands-on at both strategic and tactical level
  • Experience in a startup or working with the startup community is a plus
  • Experience with computing software like MATLAB and or Python/SAS is a plus
  • Based in Santa Clara, CA but required to travel 25-35% of the time

Salary range of $132,900 to $206,000 (inclusive of target commission for staff in eligible roles). In addition, MathWorks offers benefits and a quarterly bonus program. Individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
