Description
The US Director of Training will lead the design, execution, and optimization of all US training programs supporting physicians, Field Clinical Specialists, and commercial teams. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Global Training & Education, this leader will ensure that US training strategies align with the company’s global vision while tailoring programs to meet regional business needs. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for growing and mentoring a US training team, driving adoption of innovative education platforms, and ensuring consistency across all training initiatives.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Alignment with Global Training Leadership:
- Partner closely with the Senior Director, Global Training & Education to ensure the US training strategy aligns with the company’s global educational framework.
- Provide regular reporting, insights, and performance metrics to inform global program development and resource allocation.
- Collaborate on the global training roadmap, contributing to US specific needs, market dynamics, and competitive intelligence.
Lead and Grow the US Training Team:
- Build and manage a high-performing US training organization, including Field Training Managers, Clinical Training Specialists, and support roles.
- Align hiring, onboarding, and team development plans with global training priorities to ensure seamless integration of best practices.
- Provide mentorship, performance management, and career development opportunities to cultivate internal expertise and leadership talent.
Continual Development of World-Class Training Programs:
- Oversee the delivery and enhancement of multi-modal training programs for physicians, FCSs, and sales teams, ensuring consistency with global standards.
- Leverage e-learning, live procedural training, and virtual platforms to scale training while maintaining high clinical quality.
- Ensure all US programs align with global content frameworks and feedback region-specific insights to refine curricula.
- Work with key opinion leaders (KOLs), external partners, and global clinical experts to develop clinically accurate, engaging training materials.
Ensure Compliance & Quality Standards:
- Partner with the Global Director to embed US training programs within the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain adherence to FDA, ISO, and global compliance standards.
Report, Measure, and Optimize Performance:
- Establish US specific KPIs to measure training program success and provide consolidated reporting to the Global Director of Training & Education.
- Contribute to global training dashboards, sharing physician adoption rates, procedural competency metrics, and overall program effectiveness.
Represent the U.S. in Global Forums:
- Represent the company at domestic and international conferences, advisory boards, and physician training events.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with US field personnel to ensure training programs are aligned with global strategy while addressing local realities.
- Collaborate with commercial leadership to ensure global product launch training is successfully executed across US markets.
- Support the rollout of global LMS platforms and digital learning tools within the US market
Education and Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, nursing, business, or a related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years in the medical device industry (CRM, EP, or structural heart strongly preferred).
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing training teams, preferably within a global med-tech organization.
- Proven success creating and implementing scalable training programs aligned with global education strategies.
- Expertise in FDA compliance, QMS integration, and global regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in instructional design, adult learning principles, and blended learning programs.
- Experience deploying e-learning solutions, LMS integration, and digital content strategies at scale.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to align regional training priorities with global strategy while tailoring solutions for US market needs.
- Expertise in cardiac implantable therapies, physician training, and procedural education.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with demonstrated success growing and mentoring US based teams in alignment with global standards.
- Advanced understanding of FDA regulations, U.S. healthcare policies, and integration with global compliance frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, working across commercial, clinical, and executive leadership globally.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of representing US perspectives at global forums.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and able to travel approximately 70% of the time, including international travel, overnights and occasional weekend travel.
- Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor, and moderate noise levels.
Salary Range
$190,000 - $250,000
*Base pay is one part of your total compensation. The salary offered will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to your experience, knowledge, skills, location, internal equity, and market alignment. Addition compensation may include bonuses and equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
