Job Summary
Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead, will be responsible for implementing user-centered design in MathWorks software products for small, self-contained projects; designing user experiences based on detailed requirements that meet user needs and  product vision; understanding MathWorks’ product directions and developing design solutions; proposing design ideas based on usability testing, standard UX methodologies and technical input; using user-centered research to improve coding workflows, analyze data, build algorithms, and create applications of limited scope; assisting in design processes, from early ideas and sketches, to wireframes and prototypes, and into active development and go-live; contributing to requirements and design documents; and collaborating on low, medium and high-fidelity prototypes.

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Human Factors, Human Factors in Information Design, Information, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and no experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Human Factors in Information Design, Information, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a User Experience Designer (or related occupation) performing user-centered research or design.

Special Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise designing UX content, including scoping and defining user requirements and information architecture and executing user-centered design strategies.
  • Demonstrated expertise interpreting and analyzing user feedback to understand user workflows and translating user requirements to actionable items and specifications for design and functionality improvement of software applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise performing high and low fidelity prototyping to inform design decisions that address user requirements using Figma for high fidelity prototyping and using Miro for low fidelity prototyping according to UI design principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing user friendly visual representations of data sets; and defining and developing user-centered content standards for employee education and compliance.
