 Position Description 
Advertised Job Summary  | The VA/TA Benefits Coordinator serves as a School Certifying Official and coordinates the
processing of veterans benefits and DoD Tuition Assistance for student veterans in the USC
Columbia campus. The person in the position will strive to process benefits in a timely,
compliant, and accurate manner and provide excellent customer service with the goal of both
improving the veteran student experience and supporting student’s time to degree goals. This
position reports to the Veteran Benefits Director.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience  | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications  | Military experience; experience in working with Student Veterans in a higher education setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities  | Basic office computer skills, and exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

Processes veterans benefits in Enrollment Manager, Academic Instiution Portal, and the Banner
