How You'll Contribute to Our Mission
Frontline Education is seeking a transformational Vice President of Engineering, People Solutions, to lead the technical strategy, delivery, modernization, and operational excellence of our Human Capital Management product engineering organization.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you'll serve as a key member of Frontline's Technology leadership team and play a central role in shaping the company's strategy, operating model, and AI-first transformation.
The
People Solutions portfolio serves thousands of school districts through an integrated Human Capital Management solution that supports recruiting, hiring, employee management, professional growth, absence management, time and attendance, workforce management, and strategic workforce planning. This is a unique opportunity to help K12 school districts attract, develop, manage, and support all the talented school staff who make student success possible.
This position combines deep technical leadership with organizational influence, product partnership, operational rigor, and a strong commitment to customer outcomes.
As a key leader in Frontline’s AI-first transformation, you’ll help shape how we apply AI to create meaningful value for school districts while advancing the effectiveness of our engineering organization. You’ll lead the delivery of AI-powered experiences that improve outcomes for educators and staff, while accelerating engineering productivity through spec-driven development and intelligent automation.
Success in this role requires balancing long-term platform modernization with near-term customer commitments. You’ll help evolve our People Solutions portfolio into a connected set of capabilities built on a modern SaaS foundation, designed to support AI-enabled workflows and solve the most important challenges facing K-12 school districts.

How You'll Drive Success
• Lead the People Solutions engineering organization across multiple product areas, platforms, and development teams.
• Define and execute a multi-year engineering strategy aligned to Frontline’s product vision, customer needs, and business priorities.
• Establish and execute a modernization strategy that advances platform evolution, engineering effectiveness, AI adoption, and long-term business growth.
• Champion Frontline’s Product Operating Model by keeping engineering teams close to customer needs through active discovery, trusted delivery, and customer-centered decision making.
• Deliver the AI strategy in partnership with Product, Platform, and Architecture leaders, identifying opportunities to deliver practical, high-impact AI capabilities that improve outcomes for school district staff, educators, and students.
• Establish People Solutions Engineering as an AI-first engineering organization by leveraging agentic AI-enabled development practices and intelligent automation to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and increase engineering efficacy.
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization through effective coaching, organizational design, succession planning, and leadership development.
• Strengthen engineering leadership capability and organizational maturity while building a deep and sustainable leadership bench.
• Balance innovation efforts with improvements to scalability, maintainability, reliability, security, observability, and performance.
• Lead engineering transformation initiatives, including modernization, cloud adoption, technical debt reduction, platform simplification, and operational excellence.
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning that empowers teams to innovate while maintaining high standards of execution.
• Influence enterprise technology strategy and contribute to cross-functional planning, prioritization, investment decisions, and operational alignment.
• Partner closely with Product, Platform, Architecture, Security, and Customer Experience leaders to deliver scalable, reliable, and customer-centered solutions.
• Deepen alignment across Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience teams to accelerate delivery, improve customer outcomes, and maximize business impact.
• Drive measurable improvements in engineering effectiveness, operational maturity, product reliability, and the speed and quality of customer outcomes.
• Champion thoughtful and responsible adoption of AI and emerging technologies while maintaining trust, transparency, security, and human-centered design principles.
• Help shape the future of workforce management technology in K-12 education by delivering solutions that enable school districts to recruit, develop, manage, and support the employees who make student success possible.
What You Bring to Help Us Grow
• Proven experience leading large-scale SaaS engineering organizations supporting enterprise applications, platforms, or multi-product portfolios.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale SaaS products in the HCM, ERP, workforce management, or similarly complex business domains.
• Strong comfort with AI-enabled engineering teams, intelligent automation, AI-powered product capabilities, and emerging technology trends.
• Deep experience building and scaling modern cloud-based applications and distributed systems.
• Strong track record partnering with Product, Design, and Architecture leaders to deliver customer-centered software solutions.
• Experience establishing engineering metrics, operational KPIs, and data-informed decision-making practices.
• Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams and developing strong engineering leadership benches.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering transformation initiatives, including modernization, cloud adoption, technical debt reduction, organizational scaling, and operational excellence.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, platform engineering, DevOps practices, site reliability principles, security, and modern software delivery methodologies.
• Experience influencing executive stakeholders and building alignment across complex organizations.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical strategy into clear business outcomes.
• Strong business and operational acumen with the ability to connect technical investments to customer, employee, and business outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits
Frontline Education offers a competitive executive compensation package designed to attract and retain exceptional leaders.
The full base compensation range for this position is $200,000-$250,000.
Compensation for this role will be based on experience, leadership scope, geographic location, and internal equity considerations. The package may include base salary, annual incentive opportunities, long-term incentive eligibility, comprehensive health benefits, retirement programs, personalized time off, and professional development support.
