V.P - AI Subject Matter Expert
Reports to: SVP, Training and Curriculum
Purpose
The Vice President (AI SME) leads the development of high-quality learning content focused on artificial intelligence applications in finance. They leverage their technical and domain expertise to design and deliver exceptional, practical learning experiences that help finance professionals understand and apply AI tools, models, and workflows in real-world contexts.
They play a key role in creating and maintaining content that bridges the gap between AI and financial practice, in particular financial modeling and FP&A. This will require covering topics such as generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, automation, and the ethical use of AI in business and finance.
This content may include interactive courses, AI-driven simulations, applied projects, practice labs, case studies, YouTube videos, and articles. The AI SME also supports the ongoing enhancement and engagement of existing content to ensure it reflects current technologies and market trends.
Reporting to the SVP, Training and Curriculum, the AI SME provides subject matter expertise across CFI’s AI-related learning programs and contributes to the organization’s broader innovation and content strategy.

- Contributing to cross-functional initiatives (e.g., marketing, community engagement, webinars) that drive learner engagement and awareness of AI in finance.
- Meeting deadlines and delivering on strategic and ad-hoc content development goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Leverage deep knowledge of artificial intelligence and finance to create applied learning content that demonstrates how AI technologies are transforming financial analysis, FP&A, valuation, and risk management.
- Create and continuously improve courses, simulations, and labs that teach learners how to apply AI tools in finance
- Stay up to date with the latest AI developments that may or will impact the field of finance, such as agentic AI and AI-powered Excel addins.
- Draft comprehensive course outlines and rationalize their purpose within CFI’s AI curriculum.
- Develop instructional materials such as:
- PowerPoint presentations and video scripts.
- Excel or AI-based interactive models.
- AI-driven project exercises (e.g., predictive analysis, scenario modeling, LLM prompt design).
- Case-based labs and assignments with measurable learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with Learning Design Specialists to ensure AI content is pedagogically sound, visually engaging, and accessible for a global learner base.
- Regularly review and update AI-related content to ensure alignment with current technology, regulations, and best practices in ethical AI use.
- Contribute to the creation of articles, webinars, and other non-course content on emerging AI applications in finance.
- Act as the “go-to” expert for AI topics, advising internal teams (content, marketing, leadership) on trends, tools, and integration opportunities.
- Mentor other subject matter experts on incorporating AI concepts and tools into their respective courses and domains.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to AI innovation, learner engagement, or product enhancement.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of AI concepts (natural language processing, computer vision, deep learning, and generative AI).
- Familiarity with AI applications in finance, such as forecasting, risk modeling, fraud detection, algorithmic trading, and portfolio optimization.
- Proficiency with AI tools and platforms
- Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in AI, data science, quantitative finance, or technology-driven financial analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex AI topics into accessible, engaging learning content.
- Experience designing or teaching technical content for finance or business professionals.
- Education and Credentials:
- Degree in computer science, data science, engineering, finance, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as FMVA, FPAP, CFA, CPA, CAIA, or recognized AI/Machine Learning credentials are an asset.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to connect AI concepts to real-world business problems.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines (content, marketing, design, technology).
- Continuous learner who stays current with evolving AI tools, research, and applications.
