Pay Range Information  | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

 Position Summary Information 
Job Description Summary  | The Web Developer will plan, develop, and manage web technology as it relates to Chapman’s marketing presence online and through digital communication channels. Responsibilities include the coding and technical maintenance of internal and external facing digital marketing properties and require an understanding of agile methodology, analytics tracking integration, CMS development, marketing automation tools, web accessibility and modern coding best practices. This position works closely with the digital marketing team to ensure accuracy and consistency across university websites.

This position is in person in Orange, CA. The successful candidate will be expected to be in the office 3-5 days a week.

Responsibilities  | Collaborate with the SMC web team (UX designers and digital marketing specialists) in developing and maintaining various websites, applications and marketing automation tools.

Writing quality, robust code to ensure Chapman’s websites have consistent uptime, reasonable load speeds and are compliant with accessibility and other web standards.
Develop tools and templates for Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other marketing systems to ensure the proper usage of the system to meet Chapman marketing goals, brand guidelines and compliance needs.
Support the maintenance of all our web properties to ensure all bugs are resolved in a timely manner and system updates are monitors and addressed.
Ensuring Chapman’s web presence is at or beyond industry standards on all devices both technically and in the user experience.
Write thorough documentation related to all software builds and stay vigilant to minimize and remove technical debt.
Work with the scrum master, stakeholders, and members of the web team to determine project scope and priorities within the scrum process. Occasionally, take the lead on projects to ensure all criteria and ideas are mapped out and completed to spec and on time.
Keep up with industry standards in terms of software trends and best practices.
Support other duties for SMC as assigned.

Required Qualifications  | 3-5 years of experience in web, programming, or related fields.
Embraces Agile methodology, clears aggravations, troubleshoots, and ensures team success.
Able to write clean, testable code in one or more of the following languages: Ruby, PHP, and/or JavaScript.
Ability to solve problems and use online resources effectively to self-teach.
Motivated to analyze and improve complex processes and systems holistically.
Ability to think critically about project management and time management.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at all university levels.
Solid knowledge of digital marketing, content strategy, and paid media
Strong ability to document technical processes and development notes for others to easily get up to speed.
Experienced with WordPress, especially testing.
Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Slate marketing automation tools.
Experienced with DevOps: provisioning Linux servers for web applications and automating deployment.
Experience in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Data Studio and social media platforms and their advertising tools (Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Ads Manager, etc.) and UTM tracking.
Experience in web accessibility standards/guidelines.

Desired Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution in computer science, computer or business information systems or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience in higher education marketing.
Entrepreneurial, self-starter with tact and diplomacy skills.
