The University of Alabama is hiring a Web Developer I. This role requires writing and maintaining front-end and back-end code for websites and web applications, applying web standards and frameworks to develop complex, dynamic sites in compliance with university and governmental policies while working under close supervision.

Develop and maintain websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and related frameworks.
Apply knowledge of relational databases (MySQL), SQL queries, Linux VMs, and SSH.
Use JavaScript frameworks including Angular, React, NodeJS, JQuery along with JSON and WordPress/Omeka platforms.
Manage projects with version control systems such as GitHub.
Salary range from $48,600 to $60,800 with full-time benefits.
Requires a bachelor’s degree and some web development experience.
Work within the University Libraries department and report to the Technical Development Librarian.
Preferred experience includes WordPress/Omeka development, web accessibility standards (WCAG 2), SEO best practices, CSS preprocessors, and agile development.
Collaborate within a hybrid development team and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Candidates must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
