Web Support Specialist Full Description

Job Summary
The Web Support Specialist is responsible for providing ongoing support to academic and administrative sites in maintaining their Web presence as part of the Marketing Group in the Office of University Communications.
Essential Functions
  • Responding to web support inquiries via Teamwork Desk to effectively assist academic and administrative in maintaining their websites via Sitecore CMS.
  • Assist Web Developers in executing user experience web design principles including information architecture, visual interface design, responsive design, accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG 2.0), web analytics, SEO best practices, and writing for the web.
  • Assist Web Developers in maintaining the University’s branding guidelines and web standards; assist with graphic design as needed for web purposes; and provide direction for web-related photography, video, and interactive design.
  • Review and edit content in adherence to editorial style guidelines; and collaborate with website stakeholders to develop a concise message.
  • Make web edits and updates to sites maintained by University Marketing and Communications, and any other websites assigned to the department.
  • Create new websites within the Sitecore content management system.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with (non-technical) communication providers/content owners and members University Marketing & Communications in the creation and maintenance of websites, while adhering to University web standards.
  • Assist with conducting trainings and in the development of training materials for the Sitecore content management system as well as other applications as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in IST, Media Arts and Design, Computer Science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to quickly learn the Sitecore content management system and Teamwork Project Management Software.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and jQuery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or familiarity Sitecore CMS and Microsoft SharePoint.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
