Wireless Network Engineer Full Description

Job Summary
Positions in the Network and Communications Analyst series design, implement, and maintain enterprise-class networking equipment (including software-defined networks), network enabling services, architecture, configuration as well as associated network and telephone structured cabling systems. Performs support of enterprise data networks and equipment that provides the connectivity for all IT devices, telecommunications equipment, applications, LAN/WAN, cloud services, and the internet.
Administers, monitors, troubleshoots, and documents network-related issues throughout the organization including virtualized and system-wide networks. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, technical staff, vendors, and stakeholders to lead/participate in process improvements and network development, deploy updates and fixes, as well as provide ongoing administration and technical support. Implement, manage, and support security software, hardware, and network-based appliances to protect the campus network.

Key Qualifications
  • On campus and physically present to perform role.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting enterprise level network infrastructure and associated services such as DNS, Firewalls, Application Load Balancers, Wi-Fi and/or VoIP.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current network routing protocols for data systems such as OSPF, BGP and EIGRP.
  • Advanced experience configuring network infrastructure in hybrid cloud environments, such as AWS and VMware.
  • Demonstrated experience with automation tools/languages (e.g. Python, Powershell).
  • Demonstrated ability with installing and using network configuration management and monitoring tools in a large-scale enterprise DevOps environment (e.g. Cisco Prime, ALE OmniVista, Puppet, Jenkins, Solarwinds).

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
  • Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $96,504 - $115,332 Per Year
Classification Range: $87,408 - $127,332 Per Year
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
