Job Description 
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking an Academic Advisor to support student success through proactive and inclusive advising.

The Academic Advisor will work in person with prospective and currently enrolled students to help them explore and identify career pathways that align with their interests, strengths, and long-term goals. This position plays a key role in supporting students pursuing both academic and workforce programs, offering guidance that goes beyond academics to include non-academic challenges that may impact progress.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

Provide in-person academic advising and career exploration support Assist students in developing educational plans tailored to their goals Identify and address barriers that may affect student retention or completion Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions and outreach Refer students to college and community-based support resources Initiate and follow through with academic interventions when needed Use advising technologies and student information systems to track progress and improve services Participate in ongoing professional development and training Support the college’s strategic goals and Flight Path initiatives through student-centered engagement

The Advisor will contribute to a collaborative, inclusive environment focused on equity, achievement, and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a commitment to helping students reach their full potential.

Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
