Academic Advisor Full Description

Position Summary: Provide advising and academic support to students from NYU New York and NYU Shanghai preparing for a semester in Abu Dhabi, and NYU Abu Dhabi students planning study abroad in New York and Shanghai. Work closely with the Associate Dean of Global Programs to provide guidance on curriculum, policies, and procedures; develop advising materials to clarify course options; and manage curricular equivalencies across NYU’s three degree-granting campuses. Analyze student inquiries and enrollment trends to make data-informed recommendations that respond to evolving student needs and contribute to marketing and recruitment initiatives through information sessions, open houses, and social media campaigns. In collaboration with the Director of Global Outreach and Programs, support the strategic growth of NYU Abu Dhabi’s visiting student program by cultivating outreach opportunities across programs, student clubs, and schools at NYU Abu Dhabi, New York, and Shanghai. Oversee the development of outreach materials such as presentations, website updates, and advising resources, and supervise content creators and interns engaged in events, social media, and promotional activities. Coordinate yield and outreach events for New York students studying in Abu Dhabi, managing outreach-related logistics and expenditures, and partnering with faculty and advisors to design programming that showcases Abu Dhabi as a premier site for study abroad.

Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
2+ years of related experience in counseling, advising, student services, admissions and recruitment, program development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
2+ years at a university and detailed knowledge of how the undergraduate curriculum works at most US institutions.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to interpret and communicate policies to individuals at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly as they can be applied to social media.

Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $72,000.00 to USD $88,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
