Academic Advisor Full Description

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: 
We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Academic Advisor in our Advising & Student Academic Success department. This position will support students in the Doermer School of Business by evaluating and determining student’s interests and abilities as a link to selecting majors or programs. The annual salary for this position is $46,818.00.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one academic advising.
  • Communicate with students via office visits, email, phone calls, and text messages.
  • Assess when a situation calls for professional intervention or academic referral.
  • Conduct audits on student progress toward their degree.
  • Interpret procedures and policies for students on a daily basis.
  • Complete documentation for proper maintenance of student records.
  • Participate in orientation activities and recruiting activities designed to attract new students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • One year academic advising or related experience.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong data and computer skills required.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Business, Counseling.
  • 2-5 years of academic advising or related experience.
  • Understanding of student development theory preferred.
  • Familiarity with typical student information systems and university software like Banner, Cognos, Degree Works, Brightspace, and Qualtrics.
