Job Summary  | The functional title is Success Coach. The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is partnering with multiple organizations to enhance the college experience, completion rates, and post-graduation outcomes of students attending Dallas County Promise (DCP) public high schools who either enroll at Dallas College with the intention of transferring to UT Dallas or enroll in UT Dallas directly following high school graduation. This partnership is grant-funded and led by the Office of Undergraduate Education and the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services. The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven professional to serve as a dedicated Student Success Coach to support students who participate in the Dallas County Promise program.

Focused on academic achievement, personal development, and career readiness, the Success Coach plays a pivotal role in supporting students throughout their college journey. Using a personalized caseload approach, the coach engages students through proactive outreach, collaborative goal setting, and strengths-based coaching. By fostering resilience and a growth mindset, the coach empowers students to navigate challenges, build confidence, and achieve meaningful milestones. Serving as a vital link between students and campus resources, the coach leverages campus partners to provide targeted academic, career, and personal development support. Through close collaboration with academic departments and support services across the university, they contribute to each student’s success and sense of belonging. Additionally, the position collects and maintains data on student progress and reports on trends to inform individual student support, programming, and broader student recruitment, persistence, and graduation efforts at UT Dallas.

Minimum Education and Experience  | - Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years related experience; or Master’s degree.
Preferred Education and Experience  | Master’s degree in a related area from an accredited university preferred, with three to five years of experience working with students and/or student success programs in higher education or related community programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with conducting one-on-one meetings with students. Significant experience coordinating multiple projects and addressing multiple student issues simultaneously. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service. Background in working with and maintaining confidential student records is preferred. Experience working with the following software applications preferred: PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Suite, including Power BI, Qualtrics, Blackboard Experience managing staff and student employees preferred. Strong attention to detail, written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds. Knowledge of best practices related to student advising or guided pathways preferred. Familiarity with college admission and financial aid processes preferred.
Other Qualifications  | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  | Manages a student caseload and builds strong, trust-based relationships through regular in-person and virtual coaching sessions, outreach, and follow-ups. Provides high-impact engagement and continuous monitoring, tracking, and support from enrollment to completion; serves as the consistent single point of contact for students throughout their higher education journey and career transition. Connects with students via email, text, phone, and in-person meetings to promote coaching, schedule appointments, and maintain momentum. Facilitates conversations to identify students’ goals, values, challenges, and strengths; collaborates with students to co-create individualized academic, career, and personal success plans with clear milestones and check-in points. Supports students in developing knowledge, transferable skills, self-efficacy, and resilience to overcome obstacles. Uses student success technology and contact management systems, including the University’s CRM, student information system, and LMS, to track student progress, update notes, manage interventions, and report on outcomes. Monitors academic performance and engagement to identify underperforming students, intervene early, and support timely degree progress. Develops close relationships with multiple University departments; demonstrates attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds. Ensures compliance with institutional guidelines and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement through data-informed reflections and strategic recommendations to leadership. Participates in ongoing training and professional development to grow skills and remain aligned with best practices. Collaborates with other coaches, academic support professionals, faculty, and student success colleagues to align strategies and maximize impact. Works closely with the Dallas County Promise partnership team at UT Dallas. Abides by the Code of Ethics as set forth by UT Dallas and The University of Texas System; complies with all State and University policies.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions  | Occasional evening and weekend attendance at University events may be required at the
supervisor’s request. Depending on caseload size, the position may also support other programs
within the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE).

Additional Information  | Remote Notice: Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment may be required. Must be located within the State of Texas (or must be located within the DFW Area) and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. The ability to work remotely one to two days per week may be revoked at any time.
