Job Description
AUC - Clinical Education - Academic Affairs - Fellow

These Fellowship positions are designed ONLY for recent American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) M.D. graduates awaiting residency placement who wish to extend their clinical medicine teaching, service-based learning, medical sciences and public health research portfolio.

This is a non-faculty position for for American University School of Medicine 2024 and 2025 graduates ONLY

 Responsibilities
  • Academic Affairs Support: - Reporting to the Manager of Academic Support or Representative
  • Assist in preparation and presentation of academic support services to incoming students during orientation.
  • Under the direction of the course director, serve as a course instructor in the Learning Enhancement Courses (LEC).
  • Assist in coordinating the AUC tutoring program.
  • Provide one-on-one consultations for students on study skills and developing course competency.
  • Hold by-appointment academic support meetings in order to serve as a resource and advocate for students.
  • May participate in Medical Science Academic Support Board meetings.
  • May attend meetings with faculty members to prepare and present guest lectures and continuing education.
  • Attend Student Government Association (SGA).
  • May be asked to attend curriculum committee and faculty meetings, by invitation, as necessary.
  • Actively participate in university life and contribute to and promote the mission of the University.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications
  • A recent M.D. graduate of AUC; typically awaiting residency placement or an M.D. involved in residency training on an approved leave of absence.
  • Must have completion of all clinical rotations
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential
  • Desire for self-improvement
  • Flexibility and ability to work well on a team
  • Must demonstrate exceptional professionalism
  • Ability to research queries independently
  • Ability to work independently and ability to know when to take it to the team and/or manager
  • Experience with some of AUC’s clinical education placements. 
  • Strong teaching and writing skills
  • Familiarity working with medical students in clinical settings and familiarity with US evaluation mechanisms. (NBME, USMLE I and II)
  • Satisfactory or better grade in 5th semester
