POSITION SPECIFICS
The Academic Program Specialist for the Office of Medical Education is located with the College of Medicine at the University Park Regional Campus (UPRC) located in State College, PA.  The Academic Program Specialist primarily oversees a portfolio of academic programs within the MD Program at the College of Medicine.

As part of the curriculum design team, this individual fosters strong relationships with medical educators, staff, students and local academic and clinical partners in health, while applying innovative solutions to enhance program delivery.  The role ensures the successful implementation of programs that contribute to student development, accreditation standards, and educational excellence.  The role requires independent judgment, effective communication across College of Medicine systems, and a deep understanding of medical education processes and procedures.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • As key member of the curriculum design team develop, implement, and manage the portfolio of Phase I and Phase II courses at UPRC including but not limited to
    • Year 1 organ block courses (Respiratory, Renal, Form & Function w/ Anatomy, GastroEnterology/Nutr/Anatomy, Humanities in Context).
    • Assist with Year 1 Transition to Medicine
    • Year 2 organ block courses (Endro/Repro, Neuro Behavioral Sciences, and Communications)
    • Year 3 clerkship course (Humanities Across Clerkship)
  • Partner with course directors, course managers, and site directors in the development and administration of the curriculum and strategic planning and logistical solutions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and key stakeholders to implement curriculum updates, teaching modalities, and learning objectives.
  • Oversee the creation and management of the UPRC master phase I calendar
  • Serve as key member on the Curricular Evaluation Sub Committee
  • Serve as Chief Proctor in the administration of exams
  • Engage in UPRC admissions interviews with prospective student candidates
  • Assist with Lion Mobile as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
