The School of Social Transformation in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a dynamic Academic Success Advisor to join our current undergraduate advising team. This advisor will provide support for various interdisciplinary degrees and programs both in person and online within the school for over 700 students pursuing majors in Justice Studies, Women and Gender Studies, African and African American Studies, Asian Pacific American Studies, American Studies and more. This position acts as a key contributor to promoting and supporting student retention and graduation university-wide and advises students in making timely progress toward degree completion through a range of in-person and virtual academic counseling and support strategies.

Position Salary Range:

$50,000 - $54,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Provides personalized, intentional, and holistic advising support to students to ensure successful transition to ASU and ongoing success as a student.

  • Provides guidance and advice to students related to degree progression and completion.

  • Works with students to identify and provide counsel for all academic options including, but not limited to: degree options, extracurricular activities, study abroad programs, research, and internships.

  • Assists students in exploring the diverse academic programs of SST as a whole.

  • Monitors student academic progress through a variety of reporting tools including eAdvisor, DARS, Advisor Portal, and Salesforce.

  • Works collaboratively with other academic units and student services to provide individualized and timely student support and follow-up.

  • Acts as liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and external groups on issues related to academic success.

  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a Master's degree in higher education or related area

  • Experience in college level academic advising

  • Experience working with diverse student populations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and theories in public and higher education and college advising

  • Experience using student information systems such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and DARS.

  • Experience in working effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.

  • Evidence of effective communication skills

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Requires some attendance at evening and weekend events.
