Reports to: VP, Growth
OTE: $200K

Hoot Reading is the leading online tutoring service providing 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction with qualified teachers, at scale. Incubated on a research project at the Nokia Research Lab with Sesame Workshop (the creators of Sesame Street) and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, Hoot Reading partners with K-12 school districts, educational partners and families across North America to change children’s lives through literacy.

We are seeking a results-driven Account Executive with a strong K12 sales background to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving the full sales cycle, from prospecting to closure, with a focus on achieving and exceeding revenue targets through the strategic acquisition of new clients and the expansion of existing accounts.

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive sales strategy to meet and surpass annual sales targets
  • Proactively segments territories both to optimize pipeline generation and manage the full sales cycle
  • Generates qualified leads through a variety of prospecting activities focusing on school superintendents and literacy/curriculum leaders
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key decision-makers within school districts and educational service centers 
  • Utilizes CRMs for pipeline management, ensuring accurate forecasting and account activity visibility
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of EdTech platforms, confidently presenting demos tailored to the end-user's needs
  • Participates in RFP responses, education conferences, and tradeshows to enhance market presence
  • Supports the onboarding of schools and districts, including facilitating pilots as needed for larger engagements
  • Provides ongoing product feedback and market insights to support regional strategy and product development
  • Works closely with operational teams to build capacity and ensure smooth handoffs
 
This Position Requires You to Have:
  • A hunter mindset
  • Experience in a full sales cycle role within K12
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close deals efficiently
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, preferably HubSpot
  • A collaborative team player mindset with a dynamic and flexible approach
  • The ability to travel both in the US and Canada at least 30% of the time
  • Pre-established relationships with school district leaders in North America
  • A background in literacy and/or elementary education is desirable
