Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. Analytical skills: ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems and concepts, and make sound decisions based on available information. Experience in processing invoices and reimbursements, including travel reimbursements for payment in accordance with policy. Experience in preparing and formatting Excel spreadsheets for preliminary reporting and transaction uploads. Experience in preparing journal entries and resolving vendor invoice or expense reimbursement discrepancies. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate policies and procedures (verbal and written). Ability to work as a team member. Ability to work independently including working with internal and external customers to resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration. Experience using an ERP system (SAP). Experience with a data imaging systems. Experience with governmental accounting including allocating expenditures to different funding sources.
Job Description The Accountant I is responsible for processing and recording financial data, auditing and approving payments and vouchers, preparing documents, and monitoring transactions.
Job Duties Oversee and manage financial transactions and account reconciliations. Monitor accounts to comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Assist in identifying and resolving accounting system issues. Ensure internal and external reconciliation of university accounts. Assist in the preparation of complex financial reports and the department’s budget. Prepare Requests for Budget Change (RBCs) and monitor the department’s financial information. Verify account information against source documents. Audit and approve local payment vouchers. Prepare and analyze bids and purchase orders, and place orders with vendors. Provide financial information to staff, students, and parents. May supervise staff employees when required. May suggest minor modifications to processes to enhance the department’s performance.
