Job Summary
The Part-Time Accounting Clerk in the Bursar’s Office will support daily financial operations by ensuring accurate reconciliation of online loan payments, some posting of recorded payments that did not post, and performing general clerical accounting tasks. This role requires attention to detail, some proficiency in Excel, and the ability to assist students and parents with financial inquiries. Work is performed in an office setting, with occasional interaction with students and parents. Maximum of 19 hours per week with an option of Hybrid once all training is completed. This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in higher education financial operations while contributing to the support of students’ financial needs.
Responsibilities
Brief Daily Reconciliation:
· Reconcile online loan payments between the credit card processor and the bank to ensure accurate financial records.
· Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
· Prepare the daily departmental deposit to record the bank settlement to the General Ledger.
Online Loan Payment Posting:
· Post any payments that did not automatically post to student loan accounts.
· Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the financial system.
Clerical Accounting Support:
· Perform general clerical accounting duties, including data entry and filing
· Assist with the preparation of financial reports and statements as needed.
Tuition Appeal Assistance:
· Support the tuition appeal process by utilizing Excel to compile specific course data for the Registrar.
Customer Service:
· Assist students and parents in the office with financial inquiries and concerns
· Provide clear and accurate information regarding student accounts and payment options.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Bursar or Accounting Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience performing accounting functions and preparing related reports, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); the ability to use standard office machines, calculators and data input terminals; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

Preferences
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred· Some proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
