Highlights
  • Manage all accounting aspects of state, F&A, trust, and sponsored projects funds for a large academic department.
  • Oversee daily tasks including approval of vouchers, travel, purchase requisitions, purchasing card activities, journal entries, budget transfers, and reconciliations.
  • Establish accounting standards, internal controls, and monthly reconciliation procedures to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
  • Work with faculty to support budgeting and expenditure decisions by providing financial history, projections, and scenarios.
  • Supervise three full-time accounting technicians and ensure monthly financial reporting to PIs, management, and fund owners.
  • Liaise with the Office of Sponsored Research for budget setup, monitoring grant expenditures, invoicing, re-budgeting, and account close-out.
  • Required: Knowledge of GAAP, university financial systems, sponsored projects, financial forecasting, budgeting, and strong Excel skills.
  • Preferred: Degree in accounting, business, or mathematics; experience with UNC financial systems including ConnectCarolina, Infoporte, and RAMSeS; supervisory experience.
  • Department is one of the largest in the College of Arts & Sciences with about $12 million in annual grant expenditures and extensive undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Compensation range: $78,177 - $82,000 annually for a full-time permanent position.
