Job Summary | This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS), with comprehensive oversight of budget and financial management, human resources, facilities, and long-term program growth. Responsible for managing a ~$4 million state-mandated budget and all external grants and contracts, the role ensures financial integrity across three research and public service facilities in Lexington and Henderson, KY. The position leads human resources strategy and supervises administrative and facility staff, while advancing employee development, compliance, and safety. It directs facilities and asset management, including oversight of research equipment, cyberinfrastructure, vehicle fleet operations, and state-mandated monitoring networks. This role also drives strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and cross-sector collaboration with state agencies, educational institutions, and national geological survey counterparts to support mission-aligned growth. Through committee participation, professional engagement, and ongoing development, the role plays a key part in advancing KGS’s statewide impact and national presence.
