Admissions Campus Visit Access Coordinator (Student Services Program Assistant 1)

JOB SUMMARY

The Lodewick Visitors Center (LVC) invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month position to serve as the Admissions Campus Visit Access Coordinator on the UConn Storrs campus. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, this position coordinates visits by high school groups to UConn's Storrs campus, including outreach to schools, organization of transportation and meals, and presentations at schools and campus sites; participates in recruitment events both on and off campus in which occasional overnight travel may be required; and evaluates admission applications following established admissions criteria and processes.  This position requires flexibility in work schedule to support recruitment initiatives, including a rotation of weekends, occasional changes in schedule due to special events or holidays, and rotation of opening and closing of the LVC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the outreach, planning and logistical support of visits by Connecticut and regional high schools and community-based organizations to UConn's Storrs campus, including transportation, meals, outreach and correspondence to school counselors, compilation of school contact information, coordination of communications and reminders, communication with campus departments, and compilation of visit evaluations.
• Monitors and responds to group visit inquiries and develops appropriate itineraries for group visits. Seeks input and assistance from University departments such as cultural centers, student support services, Financial Aid and Admissions related to group visits.
• Responsible for managing call outreach and strategy to select populations throughout the admissions and enrollment cycle to positively impact enrollment of diverse populations.
• Directly supervises a group of student employees and manages task-specific training, scheduling, discipline, and evaluation of all staff assisting with diversity recruitment activities, including call campaigns, outreach to underrepresented populations, events, group visits and other admissions office programs. This includes the hiring and training of students to recruit students in underrepresented populations.
• Ensures the successful completion of projects related to diversity recruitment in coordination with student employees.
• Develops and organizes age-appropriate tour programming utilizing best practices, survey data, and empirical research to support the university’s enrollment goals and objectives.
• Compiles group visit data and reports to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and outcomes of the group visit program. 
• Oversee the creation and distribution of internal communications and coordinate regular social activities which build morale amongst student staff.
• Oversee the successful operation of the Transfer Friday visit program, including programming, scheduling, and working with colleagues on the transfer team.
• Supports the daily campus visit program and other recruitment activities of the campus visit team, including Husky Ambassador programs.
• Assists with the identification, recruitment, and training of a diverse student tour guide staff.
• Evaluates and processes admissions applications in accordance with University policies, goals, and rules on the admissibility of undergraduate students.
• Advises applicants and prospective students regarding admissions requirements, eligibility for admission, program options, residency requirements and other matters related to admission to the University.
• Supports all admissions office functions related to the enrollment of the incoming first-year and transfer class each enrollment cycle, which may include recruitment activities, events, application review, etc.
• Engages in in-state and/or out-of-state travel to recruit prospective students.
• Serves on office and division committees to represent the campus visit team as requested.
• On a rotating schedule, covers Saturday Visitor Center shifts, including weekend Fall Campus Visit and UConn Bound Days, and evening Student Staff Meetings to ensure smooth operations of the Lodewick Visitors Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree.
• Up to one year or more of relevant experience in higher education, secondary education or a related field.
• Experience with utilizing technology in work responsibilities.
• Organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability for accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated experience working with diverse and underrepresented audiences in a work or outreach setting.
• Experience working in organizations committed to diversity.
• Spanish-speaking and/or literacy.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position with a rotating schedule that includes open and closing shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position also requires in-state and out-of-state travel, a valid driver's license and proof of insurability. The salary range for this position is $48,163 to $49,984.
