About the Department:
The Division for Enrollment Management, as a part of the Office of the Provost at George Mason University, supports student recruitment, retention, and success. We develop and implement strategic enrollment management plans, create and facilitate processes, and inform policies that guide students through their academic journey from recruitment to post-matriculation. Driven by a commitment to transparent, data-informed decision-making, the Division advances institutional enrollment goals through collaboration, innovation and a student-centered approach.
The Office of Admissions facilitates the recruitment and enrollment of freshman, transfer, graduate, and non-degree students in alignment with the University’s strategic plan, ensuring a diverse and successful student body that contributes to the institution’s excellence and global impact.
About the Position:
The Admissions Operations Assistant will serve as needed in a variety of Admissions Operations spaces, rotating to learn each units’ roles and responsibilities serving as an agile team member. This role combines daily office support and professional project work to assist the team.
This is an ongoing position, and we are seeking an individual who will become a long-term team member.
Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Supports the daily review of undergraduate freshmen, transfers, graduate, and non-degree domicile statuses
- Processes supporting domiciliary documentation
- Processes transcripts or other supporting documentation
- Reviews undergraduate non-degree admissions applications
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources and provide information to necessary parties in a timely and professional manner
- Serves as a back-up graduate processing specialist
- Provides administrative support to the admissions specialists and an enhanced customer service experience to our applicants
- Assists with processing credit by exams and transfer credit equivalencies
- Additional responsibilities as assigned to help support the Office of Admissions
Required Qualifications:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations
- Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
- Ability to perform work with substantial attention to detail
- Ability to learn policies and procedures quickly
- Demonstrated customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Data entry experience
- Experience with Ellucian Banner software; Salesforce CRM, and/or TES (Transfer Evaluation System)
- Bilingual
