Description | Reporting to the Associate Dean for Admissions and the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Admissions, the Admissions Outreach and Engagement Manager cultivates and strengthens relationships with prospective students, applicants, the admissions committee, current students, and alumni to enhance the School of Medicine’s recruitment and admissions efforts. This role is responsible for developing and implementing outreach and engagement strategies, fostering positive and informative experiences, and ensuring a high level of customer service for all stakeholders. The position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support events and meetings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Organizes a 200-person Admissions Committee, including School of Medicine (SOM) faculty, administrators, current students, and alumni; maintains accurate records of contact information, subcommittee membership, and other necessary details. Manages interview scheduling for over 800 applicants and Admissions Committee members; ensures that all interviews are assigned within the admissions application processing system and that there is continuous and uninterrupted coverage; confirms schedules via email, phone call, or text message as needed; acts as the liaison between the Office of Admissions and Northwell Health staff regarding interview scheduling; monitors email communications to ensure cancellations are handled in a timely manner. Leads the New & Prospective Student Committee to develop student-run recruitment initiatives. Advises the Committee on admissions processes to create meaningful and effective engagement between applicants, accepted students, and current students throughout the admissions cycle. Develops and manages the student ambassador program and student-pairing initiative, connecting prospective students with current students to enhance the applicant experience. Collaborates with the Assistant Director in planning and coordinating all in-person and virtual admissions events, including but not limited to interview days, recruitment programs, and accepted student and waitlist engagement; shares responsibility for recruitment activities and implements strategies to attract qualified applicants. Oversees the pre-approval process, including but not limited to linkage, AMSNY, CPP, deferrals, and incoming BS/MD programs; sends pre-approval guides, manages AMCAS pre-approval submissions, adjusts deadlines in AMP, and monitors incoming materials and CASPer registration. Participates in monthly Office of Engagement and Excellence/Admissions meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of inclusive admissions practices. Provides administrative support for Admissions Committee voting meetings, in rotation with other members of the admissions office. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree is required. At least three years of progressive administrative coordination experience in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to be detail-oriented, exercise good judgment and discretion, and handle confidential issues in a professional manner. Proficiency in Zoom, with the ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, including mail merge and tables; Excel; Outlook; and PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to schedule and prepare for meetings and manage multiple tasks expediently and accurately.

Salary/Salary Range | $64,300 - $70,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
