Description
In this role, you will lead the design and development of high-quality vocational learning products, including qualifications, assessments, and teaching materials. You'll combine subject matter expertise, regulatory understanding, and creativity to deliver solutions that meet learner, customer, and stakeholder needs.
This role aligns with industry titles such as Content Developer, Curriculum Developer, Assessment Specialist, Learning Designer, or Qualification Developer .

You'll work at the intersection of education, assessment, and product development , ensuring everything delivered is fit-for-purpose, high quality, and aligned to regulatory standards.
In Your First 6 Months
You'll make impact by:
Building a strong evidence base to inform product design decisions
Leading development of qualifications and assessment materials
Establishing effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders
Ensuring delivery of content to time, budget, and quality standards
What Makes This Role Different
This is a high-autonomy, specialist role where you'll:
Influence content strategy and technical direction
Lead development of high-stakes assessment and learning solutions
Work closely with regulators, employers, and sector stakeholders
Play a key role in improving quality and shaping best practices across teams
What You'll Do
Design and develop qualifications, assessments, and learning content aligned to learner and market needs
Build and apply strong evidence-based insights from customer, learner, and competitor research
Ensure all products meet regulatory, government, and quality requirements
Lead end-to-end product development (design, approval, accreditation, delivery)
Manage delivery to time, budget (OPEX/CAPEX), and quality standards
Recruit, brief, and manage subject matter experts and writing teams
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth implementation and lifecycle support
Monitor product quality, accuracy, and customer experience throughout the lifecycle
Identify improvements to enhance learner outcomes and customer satisfaction
Represent Pearson in stakeholder engagements (e.g., employers, regulators)
What We're Looking For
Essential
Degree (or equivalent)
Experience in education, qualifications, or assessment development
Strong understanding of assessment principles and techniques
Experience balancing commercial goals with regulatory requirements
Experience designing or developing qualifications or learning products
Project management experience with delivery to time, budget, and quality
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional / virtual teams
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Desirable
Teaching experience
Experience in qualification operations or delivery
Experience within a specific sector/subject area
Experience developing solutions for tenders
Experience with digital learning content development
Budget management experience
Exposure to AI tools or prompt engineering
