Advanced Specialist, Sales, Assessment & Qualifications Full Description

Background Information:

This role is part of the European sales team selling Pearson Edexcel qualifications and teaching & learning resources to International Schools. The target start date is March 2026. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, managing and growing customer accounts to achieve sales targets for your markets. You will develop close relationships with our customers and build, maintain and report on a pipeline of new business opportunities, both of which will drive greater uptake of our products and services and contribute to business financial targets for 2026 and beyond.

The role will require the jobholder to:

  • Manage existing accounts and proactively grow business within these accounts by developing close relationships with decision-makers and influencers to identify and deliver on upselling and cross-selling opportunities.

  • Develop relationships with decision-makers and influencers in new accounts to position Pearson as the preferred education solutions provider and develop new business.

  • Use CRM (Salesforce), pipeline and territory planning tools to identify, prioritise and report on business development activity and progress against sales targets.

  • Develop timely and accurate forecasts for assigned accounts and revise these as appropriate throughout the year.

  • Contribute to the formulation of short and medium-term operational and strategic plans based on a solid understanding of relevant market trends and customer demands.

  • Proactively keep up-to-date on industry and customer specific issues.

  • Act as an ambassador for Pearson in your markets of responsibility.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business e.g. Qualifications Development, International Marketing, Inside Sales etc.

Competencies and experience:

Essential

  • Strong and demonstrable sales track record, with proven experience and expertise in consultative selling techniques.

  • Sharp customer focus with key account management experience, able to form close relationships, and elicit and respond to customer needs.

  • Ability to develop, plan, prioritise and report on business development activity effectively across the markets of responsibility.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Strong report writing and record keeping ability; comfortable working with numbers and performing statistical analysis.

  • Willing to travel extensively across markets of responsibility.

Desirable

  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of people, especially at senior management level within key stakeholder groups.

  • A self-starter with a solid work ethic, self-discipline, persistence and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to influence people who are not direct reports.

  • Knowledge of the international schools' market derived either from teaching or sales, with direct experience of working with international/bilingual school customers and clients.

  • Coaching and mentoring experience Previous experience: Essential

  • Experience / knowledge of teaching international qualifications e.g., IGCSE, GCE, IB etc.

  • Experience of business-to-business sales. Desirable

  • Experience of managing clients and third parties across a broad geography.

  • Broad knowledge of the education sector and trends that create business opportunities.

  • Education, Qualification, training: Essential

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

  • Fluent in English (Native speaker preferred).

  • IT literate e.g.: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Desirable

  • Teaching experience, especially with IB (PYP, MYP, and DP) or GCSE/IGCSE/GCE exams would be an asset.

  • Experience of working with CRM systems such as Salesforce Personal Style: Leading Self

Job location :

This is a remote role based in Spain and requires regular travel across Spain and Portugal.
