Application Engineer

Team: Technical Sales Engineering
Location: US-CA-Torrance

Job Summary

Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead, will be responsible for contributing to the marketing and sales of MathWorks’ engineering products for small self-contained projects; assisting on customer technical engineering presentations regarding the use of engineering software products to support the sales process; using existing software product models and simulations to demonstrate the use of MathWorks’ MATLAB and Simulink products for engineering, control design, system modeling and non-complex customer opportunities; assisting senior team members in engagements with prospective and existing customers to understand their workflow and identifying relevant MathWorks engineering solutions; and developing customer scripts to demonstrate how MathWorks engineering software addresses customer needs. Requires domestic/international travel based on company/client need (approximately 20%).

Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and no experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as an Application Engineer (or related occupation) teaching or technical support of model-based design and control systems.

Special Requirements:

Demonstrated expertise performing real-time modeling and simulation of physical system and control system design using MATLAB and Simulink.
Demonstrated expertise guiding and teaching engineers or engineering students to model and analyze a physical engineering system using MATLAB simulation software.
Demonstrated expertise developing and delivering technical demonstrations on the use of mathematical simulation technologies in control system design, simulation of physical systems, or machine learning algorithm development.
Demonstrated expertise developing presentations and technical reports in the topic of engineering and model-based design for scientific review, and presenting work at conferences and technical workshops.
