Job Summary | Bowdoin College’s Office of Admissions is hiring Application Reviewers. In this role, reviewers will work closely with admissions staff and a broader committee of professionals to evaluate student applications and offer thoughtful recommendations.
The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 per hour.
Please note, to be considered for this position, Applicants must be based in Maine Applicants must be available to work 1.5 to 2.5 days per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., from January through March 2026. Some paid training may also take place in December 2025. Applicants may not currently work in a college counseling capacity, including in a school or organizational setting, as an independent consultant or private college counselor, or in any other capacity where they provide advising on the college admissions process
Education/Skills Requirements | Bachelor’s degree Solid understanding and appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education Strong analytical skills with the ability to efficiently review, evaluate, and summarize written and oral information Proven ability to apply training across varied scenarios and exercise independent judgment using critical thinking Exceptional oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively on time-sensitive tasks Excellent time management and organizational abilities in a deadline driven environment Advanced computer proficiency with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies as needed Reliable internet connection (required for remote work settings) Commitment to handling sensitive information with discretion and adherence to confidentiality policies
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents | At least one year of experience reviewing applications for higher education institutions (or in a corollary setting)preferredEnthusiasm for higher education, as well as an appreciation for high school students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures across the country and around the world

Standard Work Days and Hours | This is an onsite, part-time, non-benefit eligible position working less than 19 hours/week from January to March 2026. Some paid training and work hours may also occur in December 2025. Applications are reviewed electronically. Except for any mandatory in-person training, all work will be conducted remotely 1.5 to 2.5 days per week during administrative hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
