Job Description
The Finance Information Technology and Innovation (FITI) department leverages technology to improve the operating environment of the Vice President for Finance senior management area and related university constituents. FITI is currently seeking an Applications and Data Programmer to be an integral part of the FITI Business Application Solutions team that designs, develops and supports innovative technology solutions that promote administrative efficiencies and enhance data collection and reporting.
As the Applications and Data Programmer, you will provide both technical and data-oriented expertise in the development and maintenance of data management systems and processes, the development of data collection and reporting applications, and the development and support of web-based systems and reports. The Applications and Data Programmer assesses the information technology needs of end users and develops strategies to meet identified needs. Designs, develops, tests and implements agreed upon solutions. Implements and maintains systems in accordance with university, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations. This position works on multiple projects simultaneously while independently prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines and provides scheduled support services to cyclical operations that require business information technology and reporting expertise. This position will provide highly responsive, effective and courteous services to advance and support the data management and reporting needs of departments that report to the Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
Successful candidates should have a diverse set of technical skills along with the ability to understand and analyze finance-oriented data, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency, professionalism, and the drive to collaborate with business users and fellow FITI team members.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Experience with relational database design, SQL, and data retrieval.
• Experience with object-oriented design concepts and web design.
• Experience converting user specifications into functional project requirements and modeling complex business processes.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, independently prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts at a level appropriate to the intended audience.
• Demonstrated ability to work productively with minimal supervision in a team situation, and to write and speak effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in Business Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline or a combination of education and relevant experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
• Experience developing applications using the .NET framework, including C# and/or using Microsoft Office 365 technologies.
• Experience with business intelligence or report development tools.
• Experience supporting production applications.
• Familiarity with basic financial and accounting practices.
• 3 or more years working as a SDLC programmer.
