Posting Context Statement  | The Student Accounts Office is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Accounting Manager to support the daily operations of student billing, receivables and collections. This position plays a key role in supervising staff, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, managing course fees and supporting system enhancements.


Position Overview  | This position performs a variety of accounting activities that range in level of complexity from transactional accounting duties such as managing receivables and payables, to more complex duties such as reconciling accounts and resolving accounting problems. This position will also be responsible for assisting with managerial oversight of some or all of the activities of Accounting Specialists in the accounting unit and may provide backup coverage for the Accounting Manager in their absence.

Duties may include: Oversee various accounting processes and databases Develop and monitor departmental budgets Assist in planning, directing, organizing and scheduling the activities of the unit Analyze, develop and document accounting and cost procedures and controls Proxy for senior staff when necessary Research and monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and University policy and procedures Assist with developing and delivering training to appropriate audiences within the University on policies, procedures, and practices, and use of accounting systems Advise customers on University policies and procedures Compose correspondence and take necessary action to resolve problems or discrepancies Oversee daily activities of the unit, review and approve transactions Assist with implementing changes in office operations and process automation May direct the work of lower-level staff Other duties as assigned

Required Experience  | Three years full-time experience providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures, including interpreting and applying policies and procedures to practical situations At least two years of transactional accounting experience Experience using computerized accounting systems or spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze, and report on financial transactions Experience in a customer service / support role, including experience leading teams or managing projects
