Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | With direction from the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Admissions serves as the strategic leader responsible for shaping, implementing, and advancing the law school’s admissions vision and goals. The assistant dean oversees recruitment, admissions operations, enrollment strategy, scholarship awards, and applicant managment to attract and enroll a highly qualified and mission-aligned class. The successful assistant dean must be able to build strong relationships with top feeder schools and have knowledge of legal education trends, experience with financial aid and scholarships awards, and sensitivity to demographic and market conditions affecting law school applicants.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and at least 8 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience.

Preferred Qualifications | Eight years of law school admissions experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Legal Education LandscapeHigh level of familiarity with the environment of legal education, the legal profession, and the academic programs and curriculum of the School of Law.
Enrollment ManagementKnowledge of holistic admissions review, application evaluation processes, yield management and enrollment forecasting, scholarship strategies, pipeline development, familiarity with metrics affecting law school competitiveness.
Analytical and Technical SkillsExperience and knowledge of CRM platforms (such as Slate), application processing software (LSAC Unite), reporting tools and dashboards, and familiarity with predictive modeling for yield forecasting and financial aid decisions. Ability to recognize and implement new technologies and methods to achieve institutional goals.
Communications and Relationship building
Strong inter-personal and customer-service skills and ability to work well with various constituencies, including faculty, staff, alumni, students, applicants, and other groups. Persuasive writing and messaging, excellent presentation and public-speaking skills.
Leadership and Management
Ability to lead the admissions team. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, energy, and commitment. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized strategic and detail-oriented way while remaining personable, supportive, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering the highest quality of service. Possesses sound judgement, high discretion and confidentiality, and adaptability under pressure. Ability to think strategically, solve problems and take initiative.
Job Duties
Job Duty | Admissions Department Operations- Oversees the work of the admissions department to include fulfilling information requests, application processing, communications with prospective students, reviewing applications, recommending admissions decisions to the Admissions Committee, including scholarship awards, disseminating decisions, maintaining reports for internal and external reporting (US News and ABA), and managing the enrollment process. Supervises departmental staff and manages the departmental budget.

Percentage of Time | 30Job Duty | Admissions Communications and Marketing- Works with the school’s Communications department to create an effective communications strategy to expand the admissions funnel and achieve admissions goals. With support from Communications, creates the online and print viewbook, web content, email and CRM messaging, and a social media plan for admissions marketing with timelines. Communicates with prospective students, applicants, prelaw advisors, relevant undergraduate stakeholders and members of the public about the admissions process and the school’s programs and strengths. Also works with the Communications team on a content calendar for prospective applicants and admitted students.

Builds relationships with top feeder schools and develops pipeline programming, reachback programming and outreach initiatives to improve matriculation rates for the most competititve students. Establishes a strategic travel and communications plan for the Admissions Office to achieve admissions goals.
