Pay Range Information | Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary | The Assistant Dean for Placement and Career Services oversees all staff in the Argyros College office of career services. This role is responsible for maximizing the percentage of students with jobs at graduation and median salaries. The Career Office services undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to placing students, the Assistant Dean oversees the planning and administration of personalized career advancement services, including programs designed to prepare students for all aspects of the career search process. The Assistant Dean cultivates external relationships to generate and identify job leads, enhance professional networking opportunities and assist students in selecting career paths.Reporting to the Dean of Argyros College, The Assistant Dean for Placement and Career Services will serve as a critical participant of the senior leadership team of Argyros College. This position will be a strategic partner to the Dean, advising on major strategic and tactical issues. The Assistant Dean will also gather information for ranking and accreditation, lead alumni relations efforts, collaborate with university admissions and the Argyros Graduate office, and ensure attendance at career-related events. Candidate must have an MBA from an AACSB accredited college is required.
Responsibilities | Placement Maximize the percentage of students with jobs at graduation. Maximize median salaries of students. Take personal responsibility for placement of Full-Time MBAs. Oversee development of personalized career plan for all students, including career exploration, recruiting preparation and internships and career readiness. Provide individual career coaching to students regarding career planning, self-assessment, resume writing, interviewing, and social media presence. Lead external efforts to source job leads and develop professional networking resources, including mentors. Manage internship programs.
Senior Leadership Team Serve as a member of the Argyros College Senior Leadership Team. Advise Dean on strategic and major tactical issues. Assist in preparation of reports for accreditation and rankings. Assist in donor and corporate relations. Manage alumni relations.
Career Services Plan and organize career related events, including industry panels, “meet the firms”, career retreats, UG Admissions events, etc. Ensure the professional development of Career Services staff to provide state-of-the-art expertise on career preparation and job search. Offer services to assist students in developing career interests. Develop network of mentors.
Required Qualifications | MBA at AACSB Accredited College. Demonstrated leadership ability. Significant experience in career services at a business school, corporation, or placement firm. Ability to identify current market trends. Ability to represent Argyros College effectively with corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and significant donors. Strong desire to transform students lives by launching and accelerating career. Deep knowledge of current placement practices in career coaching, resume preparation, interview skills, social media presence. Deep knowledge of career opportunities, including compensation, growth paths, and requirements to assist students in developing career paths.
