Highlights
  • Manage recruitment, selection, training, and development of undergraduate and graduate student staff including Resident Assistants and various receptionist and assistant roles.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies, application, interview, and placement processes in coordination with Residence Education Leadership Team and Residence Hall Directors.
  • Facilitate beginning of semester and ongoing training sessions to prepare student staff for their roles effectively.
  • Collaborate with multiple campus departments to coordinate recruitment and training efforts.
  • Address student and parent concerns, enforce Housing and Residence Life (HRL) policies, serve as Conduct Educator for accountability cases, and participate in housing on-call rotation.
  • Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in College Student Development, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field, with extensive progressive supervisory experience in residence hall/housing environments and live-in experience.
  • Must demonstrate skills in crisis management, training, leadership, diversity promotion, communication, problem-solving, and assessment methods.
  • Preferred experience includes supervisory experience with professional staff, budget management, familiarity with Star Rez and Maxient software, and knowledge of legal issues in human resources.
  • Department served is Student Housing within Old Dominion University's Housing and Residence Life division.
  • Final candidate must complete a criminal background check.
