Job SummaryThe Advising Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for an Assistant Director of Academic Advising /Student Support Specialist IV . The primary responsibilities are to coordinate the effective implementation, evaluation and improvement of Jefferson’s comprehensive advising program.
Job Duties:Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinates and manages the student assigned advising process for all campuses by ensuring assignments have been completed and entered in the enrollment and retention management system.
• Responsible for Professional Staff and Faculty advisor trainings, including annual PD.
• Collects, enters, monitors and disseminates information from advising to the academic programs, faculty and/or other areas
• Provides oversight for, and assists with the development of, advising modules for faculty/Staff, the advising e-Community and advising tools, and updates these resources on a regular basis.
• Collect information and coordinate advising professional development trainings and processes with Deans/Extended Campuses to meet the needs of faculty/Staff.
• Create an annual evaluation survey for Deans to be used for collecting student evaluations of advising experiences.
• Collaborate with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs on advising events and the coordination of support for events.
• Participates in committees, work groups, and professional development activities
• Leadership responsibilities, including but not limited to acting in conjunction or on behalf of the Director of Advising with coordination of advising on all campuses, attending meetings, in office scheduling, and performance reviews.
• Assisting faculty and staff with advising and student issues via advising chat, email, etc.
• Works with internal and external departments/divisions to review program guides, career information sheets, advising summaries, and pathway documents on a regularly scheduled basis
• Advises students, enters advising notes into the system, and makes appropriate referrals as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree (Education, Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Psychology, Sociology or related field) and three years related experience or equivalent.

Additional Skills Requested:Skills: attention to detail; interpersonal; problem-solving; communication; self-motivated and takes initiative. Travel to all campuses, as well as some evening/night and weekend work, as required.
