Advertised Job Summary | Career Development Coach
Would you enjoy working in a student-centered environment and supporting and mentoring students? Are you a self-starter with excellent communication skills? Do you have the ability to connect and build rapport quickly?
The Career Development Coach will advance students’ career development by providing effective career counseling, coaching and advising. They will manage counseling and career services for designated college(s) liaison areas and lead or assist with programming consistent with the goals and objectives of the Career Center. This includes the promotion, coordination, and evaluation of official internship and co-op programs.
Day to Day for this position:
Provide counseling/coaching and advising through individual drop in interactions, appointments, and presentations/workshops
Manage career services for assigned academic college/school liaison role
Coordinate the promotion, implementation, and evaluation of university-recognized internship programs

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications | Masters degree in Student Services, Education, Human Resources, Counseling or related field and 1 year related experience. May graduates will be considered if they will be able to obtain their degree by the date of employment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Skills in career counseling, psychometric assessment, program planning, public relations, and group presentations are necessary to perform the required duties. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Provide counseling/coaching and advising through a variety of formats including drop-in interactions, individual appointments, and presentations/workshops to:
1) Help students understand the relationship between self-knowledge and major/career choice through formal and informal career assessments.
2) Provide students with relevant occupational, educational, and employment information that helps them to explore a wide range of major/career options.
3) Empower students to make reasoned major/career choices and to develop realistic implementation plans.
4) Increase awareness and promotion of experiential education opportunities to students.
5) Improve student preparedness for job search activities and professionalism in the workplace.

Manage career services with assigned special populations which could include one or more of the following: residence halls, students with disabilities, athletes, veterans, international students, and under-represented students.

Communicate and enforce program policies and procedures to students and employers. Anticipate and address issues related to data security, ethics and risk management.
1) Solicit and monitor internship reporting to the Career Center and review submissions for program eligibility.
2) Implement the student and employer enrollment processes (contracts) for interns for assigned liaison area(s) with the opportunity to administer funding where special funds are available.
3) Conduct semester site visit in person, phone, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom consultations with internship and co-op program students and employer supervisors.
4) Conduct pre- and post- assessments with students and employers to evaluate achievement of outcomes and overall program success. Share assessment results and collaborate with colleagues to make program improvements.
