Role Description 
The Assistant Director of Curriculum and Assessment serves as a key academic leader within Elmwood Institute, responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all academic programs and courses. This position ensures that curricula are rigorous, relevant, and aligned with institutional learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and industry expectations.

The Assistant Director manages course development teams and collaborates closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts (SMEs), assessment coordinators, and LMS administrators to create a cohesive, innovative, and data-driven learning experience. The role also includes direct involvement in developing and deploying AI-based assessment tools and analytics, ensuring the institution's programs remain at the forefront of educational innovation.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership and Course Development
  • Lead and manage all course development teams, ensuring courses are aligned with institutional learning outcomes, accreditation requirements, and workforce competencies.
  • Oversee the creation and revision of course materials, including syllabi, learning activities, and assessments, ensuring academic quality, accessibility, and innovation.
  • Coordinate with instructional designers and SMEs to maintain consistency and integrity across programs and modalities.
  • Establish and maintain a structured course review cycle to support continuous improvement.
Assessment and Quality Assurance
  • Direct and manage the institutional assessment process across all of the institutions programs, including the design, mapping, collection, and analysis of assessment data.
  • Collaborate with the CAO and Program Manager to ensure compliance with accrediting bodies, including preparation of assessment exhibits, outcomes reports, and evaluation summaries.
  • Oversee the development, integration, and evaluation of AI-driven assessment tools for formative and summative learning evaluation.
  • Monitor student learning outcomes and program effectiveness through analytics dashboards, regular reporting, and coordination with the instructional team(s).

Technology and LMS Integration
  • Partner with LMS and IT teams to ensure optimal integration of course design, assessment tools, and AI-enabled analytics.
  • Support testing, implementation, and scaling of new instructional technologies, digital tools, and OER resources.
  • Ensure all course builds meet accessibility, compliance, and performance standards.

Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness
  • Support the CAO in institutional and programmatic accreditation activities, including evidence gathering, documentation, and alignment with DEAC and international standards.
  • Contribute to self-study reports, curriculum exhibits, assessment reports, and data dashboards for internal and external reviews.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of curriculum and assessment processes.

Leadership and Collaboration
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to course mentors, assessors, and instructional design teams.
  • Participate in strategic academic planning and decision-making in collaboration with institutional leadership.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across academic and operational functions.

Qualifications & Experience
Required:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Assessment, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related academic field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in curriculum design, assessment, or academic operations in higher education.
  • Proven experience leading course development teams and implementing assessment systems.
  • Familiarity with AI-based or technology-enhanced assessment tools.
  • Strong understanding of LMS platforms, OER integration, and online learning design principles.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience with accreditation processes (regional, DEAC, or programmatic).
  • Background in technology-based disciplines or entrepreneurship education.
  • Experience working in global, competency-based, or outcomes-driven learning environments.
