Job Description | This role serves as the primary manager of the strategy and analysis of digital fundraising initiatives that drive donor acquisition, retention, and engagement. This position coordinates the use of digital platforms, including web, e-mail, paid and organic social media, and text messaging to advance annual giving goals.
The Assistant Director oversees and executes the development of campaign assets writing copy, designing graphics, and coordinating multimedia to support the Office of Alumni and Constituent Engagement’s (ACE) signature annual giving campaigns fall campaign, calendar year-end (including Giving (CUSEDay), Syracuse Giving Day, and fiscal year-end, as well as targeted campaigns throughout the year. They will work with program managers and other digital communication colleagues to pair annual giving messaging with signature events and will regularly assess the ROI of digital engagement efforts to inform future strategy and optimize results.
This cross-functional role liaises with divisional colleagues, including the Strategic Communications & Donor Experience team, schools, colleges, and units, and/or external vendors to coordinate the usage of digital assets and annual campaign toolkits.
The role oversees ACE’s student influencer program to amplify giving campaigns through peer-to-peer outreach.

Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 2 years of digital fundraising, digital marketing, or digital communications experience. Demonstrated ability to use and learn digital marketing tools and technologies (e.g., social media ads, retargeting ads, peer-to-peer texting programs and database management).
Skills and Knowledge | Minimum 1 year of analytic tracking experience (Google Analytics) preferred. Minimum 1 year experience managing team of students or interns preferred. Basic video creation and editing preferred. Basic photography and editing skills preferred. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva preferred. Attention to detail and ability to proof/review data and content. Experience managing vendors and deliverable scheduling preferred. Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS coding preferred. Effective verbal and written communications skills. Experience in prioritizing multiple tasks effectively. Experience in performing effectively as a member of a team. Experience translating business questions and requirements into reports and analysis. Experience in communicating complex concepts to a variety of audiences both in writing and orally. Experience in working both independently and in collaboration with a variety of individuals. Experience in working effectively in an environment requiring balancing multiple competing deadlines and priorities.
Responsibilities | Plan and execute of digital strategy for signature annual giving campaigns fall campaign, calendar year-end (including Giving Tuesday), Syracuse Giving Day, and fiscal year-ends, well as targeted campaigns throughout the year. Coordinate consistent messaging to drive donor acquisition and retention across platforms including email, website, paid and organic social media, and text messaging. Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Alumni and Constituent Engagement and the Strategic Communications & Donor Experience team within the Office of Advancement and External Affairs, on the production and development of assets and identify opportunities to integrate annual giving messaging with programs and events. Serve as primary liaison to Advancement and External Affairs colleagues and school/college/unit partners to ensure appropriate use of assets and alignment of messaging, timing, and goals in support of campaigns throughout the year. Write and design campaign content including copy, graphics, and visual assets. Coordinate creative development for use across platforms (e.g., website, email, social media, print,). Support production timelines and quality control for deliverables. Partner with colleagues in Strategic Communications & Donor Experience to ensure assets and messaging are aligned with divisional strategy and university branding. Capture imagery through use of a digital camera, as needed, and maintain photo library of assets that can be used in campaigns throughout the year. Track, analyze, and report on digital campaign performance in an effort to provide strategic direction to the division in utilizing digital tools in annual giving. Develop recommendations for future strategies that deepen engagement among key audiences while strategically utilizing and managing budget dollars for a positive return on investment. Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging tools and technologies, including artificial intelligence, that may enhance efficacy of digital campaigns. Manage student influencer program, which engages current students in educating their peers about the importance of philanthropy and encouraging their participation. Recruit, train, and manage ambassadors to support annual campaigns, including by providing content and guidance for students to promote campaigns via their personal networks. Identify, review and evaluate emerging vendor platforms and partnerships as applicable, and participate on related university and AEA committees as assigned.
