General Description  | The Assistant Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program supports the Director in the development, implementation, and administration of the EOF Program in accordance with the EOF statewide regulations and UCNJ policies and directives. The Assistant Director also contributes to budget development and management, oversees roster management to ensure accurate certification and student tracking, advances the goals and initiatives of the Student Development division and the institution, and leads efforts in program assessment and continuous improvement.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
·         Assist the Director of EOF with the development of the academic year and summer program activities, budgets and goals for the Educational Opportunity Fund Program.·         Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures which facilitate recruitment, retention, transfer and graduation of Educational Opportunity Fund students.·         Provide supervisory support to EOF professional and/or student staff including assisting in the development and facilitation of on-time completion strategy with staff.·         Represent EOF on various UCNJ Governance Leadership Committees or other institutional committees.·         Develop, analyze and provide reports in dashboard format for first-time full time cohorts and other areas and aspects of the program.·         Serve as the EOF point person in supporting current or future institutional initiatives, such as Project Achievement.·         Lead and/or oversee EOF program initiatives such as Tutoring, Transfer Services, Graduation and Student Leadership Development.·         Assist with the submission and maintenance of EOF financial aid grants on the New Jersey Financial Aid Management System (NJFAMS).·         Assist with the completion and submission of yearly state budgets and reports ·         Assist with all areas of reporting and program assessment for the state and the Student Development Division.·         Confers with faculty, administrators and advisors in defining students’ needs and the special services, which address those needs.·         Provides academic, financial aid, transfer and career advisement to a caseload of EOF students.·         Creates and implements student workshops around career and employment topics, as well as personal development.·         Develops academic and individual action plans for students on their caseload to guide students toward on-time graduation; implements student retention programs as needed.·         Interacts on a regular basis with other departments within Student Development to promote open communication and to ensure compliance with New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund regulations.·         Facilitate and/or secure professional development opportunities or trainings for EOF staff.·         Attend OSHE/EOF meetings.·         Administers other related assignments as requested by supervisor or designee.  

Education Requirements  | Master’s degree required in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, and/or Counseling or a related field.
Experience  | Minimum of three (3) years of administrative and advising experience working with underrepresented populations.
Competencies and Skills Required  | ·         Demonstrates cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population.·         Experience with student information systems, data management, and compliance reporting in an educational or related setting.·         Knowledge of Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) regulations, policies, and procedures.·         Knowledge of admissions processes, including curriculum requirements, placement testing, and financial aid.·         Strong platform speaking, presentation, and marketing skills.·         Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.·         Experience with computer-based financial aid systems, including workflow-based student financial aid processes.·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel and Access) and experience with web page development and maintenance.·         Ability to collect, analyze, and report data accurately.·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.·         Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external communities.·         Valid driver’s license and reliable access to transportation. Knowledge and Abilities: ·         Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.·         Ability to quickly learn and apply institutional policies, procedures, and student services.·         Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the initiative to address issues independently when appropriate.·         Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and campus partners to achieve program and institutional goals.·         Demonstrated commitment to student success and to serving a diverse population with equity and inclusion. 
Physical Demands and Work Environment  | ·         This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.·         Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.·         No or very limited exposure to physical risk.·         Some travel required.
Salary  | $70,000-$72,000

Terms of Employment  | Terms of Employment: Full Time.  Flexible schedule to meet department needs.  Some evening, weekends and extended hours will be required.  Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college.  An employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies. Grant Positions:  Position partially funded by the grant. Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant funding.
