Position Overview | The Assistant Director of Marketing and Events in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) at the University of Idaho leads marketing strategy and event planning to promote CALS, University of Idaho Extension, and the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station. This role oversees branding, campaigns, and communications across digital, print, and event platforms to strengthen the college’s reputation and align with institutional goals. Responsibilities include developing marketing content, ensuring brand consistency, managing strategic events, supervising staff and contractors, coordinating with university units, and overseeing budgets. The position serves as the chief marketing strategist for CALS, implementing initiatives set by the Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives.

Position Qualifications
Required Experience | Three years of experience planning and executing marketing plans and initiatives to
achieving organizational goals One year of experience supervising and directing the work of individuals or leading project teams Experience writing, editing and presenting information Experience with marketing principles and best practices Experience managing multiple projects Experience collaborating and communicating with internal and external constituents Social media management experience across multiple platforms Experience in event planning and even management
Required Education | Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or public relations; four additional years of experience planning and executing marketing plans and initiatives (for a total of seven years) may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other | Ability to travel Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet UI requirements for driving university vehicles Ability to work nonstandard business hours, including weekends and holidays
Additional Preferred | Experience using a content management system (CMS) , customer relationship management (CRM) systems and other distribution tools, including web and bulk email Experience using computer software applications for photo editing, social media platforms, content posts and project management Experience working in higher education Experience producing and editing informational and marketing collateral Knowledge about agriculture/Idaho’s agriculture industry
