Job Summary | The Assistant Director of Stewardship is a key member of the Stewardship team, performing tasks that strengthen the relationship between donors and the College by informing, thanking, and recognizing donors for their contributions. Specifically, the Assistant Director is both an effective communicator who provides reports, information, and communications to donors about their endowed funds and other contributions, and a detail-oriented project manager, who assists with the coordination and management of events involving, related to, or endowed by donors. In some cases, the Assistant Director takes the lead on individual reporting and event projects. The Assistant Director’s work involves collaboration with other divisions on campus, including the Office of Academic Affairs, individual academic departments, the Office of the President, Student Affairs, CXD, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, and Events and Summer Programs. This role also provides information and support to front line fundraisers, is involved in strategic planning, and participates in special projects, all in service to sustaining and deepening donors’ relationships to the College and enhancing fundraising success.
Essential functions: Management and Support for Events. Provides support for Stewardship events, including lectureship events, cultivation events, building dedications, and recognition events. Reporting, writing and editing projects. Drafts, edits, or provides drafting and editing support for reports and other communications to donors, including endowed fund impact reports, scholarship fund reports with student profiles, and endowed fund financial reports. Support for Front Line Fundraisers and Programs. Provide donor-related information and provide event staffing support.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $60,500 – $64,500

Education/Skills Requirements | Bachelor’s degree required.Strong and proven ability to write and to proofread, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adhere to precise deadlines with extensive attentiveness to detail; exceptional interpersonal skills and proficiency with computers, Microsoft Suite and databases.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents | 1-2 years experience in a professional setting required.
No prior experience in fundraising is required, but the following is preferred: One or more years of donor relations, development/fund-raising Event planning, or related experience Experience with development databases Fundraising reports, and event management Experience in a liberal arts college setting or other nonprofit setting
