Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Events provides leadership and coordination for high-impact student engagement initiatives and signature events within the Love School of Business. This position is responsible for the coordination of several special cohort programs, the Business Fellows program and the Humanity in Business Leaders 3+Co-op program. In addition, the Assistant Director oversees planning and execution of a broad portfolio of LSB events and manages student engagement software. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Success and Faculty Development, the Assistant Director serves as a key partner in advancing the Love School of Business’s strategic priorities related to student engagement and experiential learning.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education or an academic environment

Master’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated success in planning and managing complex events and programs
• Demonstrated experience working with undergraduate, pre-professional student populations
• Knowledge of undergraduate business education and co-curricular programming preferred
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, collaborate across units, and contribute at an administrative level

Job Duties

  • Student Engagement Programs and Cohort Coordination
    • Provide coordination, in collaboration with program directors and academic leadership, for the Humanity in Business Leaders 3+Co-op program and the Business Fellows program, including support for structured student development, mentoring, and professional engagement initiatives connected to these experiences.
    • Manage engagement opportunities such as corporate visits, career and alumni panels, speaker events, cohort-based activities, and domestic and international travel experiences, while helping to foster meaningful connections among students, alumni, mentors, and industry partners.
    • Serve as an administrative point of contact for students participating in these programs and mentoring initiatives, coordinating communications, schedules, and logistics related to engagement activities. 
  • Event Strategy and Execution
    • Plan, manage, and execute a comprehensive portfolio of Love School of Business events, ranging from high-profile signature programs to routine academic and administrative events. Events may include, but are not limited to:
      • Lessons from Leaders Speaker Series
      • Leaders in Action Humanity in Business
      • Leaders Program Speaker Series
      • Executive-in-Residence events
      • AI Summit
      • Business Analytics Summit
      • Accounting Department CPE Seminar
      • International Business Dual Degree Stole Ceremony
      • Honor society induction ceremonies and recognition events
    • Provide strategic coordination of event logistics, timelines, vendors, catering, space reservations, and on-site execution to ensure professional, consistent, and high-quality experiences.
  • Student Engagement Infrastructure
    • Administer and manage the student engagement software platform (Suitable), using data to promote participation, document experiential learning, and support assessment and reporting needs.
    • Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of student engagement initiatives through tracking, feedback, and collaboration with academic leadership. 
  • Collaboration and Administrative Leadership
    • Partner closely with faculty program directors, center leadership, and staff across the Love School of Business to ensure alignment and effective execution of engagement initiatives.
    • Represent student engagement and event operations in internal planning discussions as appropriate.
    • Support broader undergraduate program goals and initiatives as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Success and Faculty Development. 

Special Instructions to Applicants: While the standard working hours of this position are 8:00-5:00, some events will require evening and weekend participation.
