General Description
The Assistant Program Director performs activities in support of the Industry-Business Institute and non-credit program training initiatives. Responsibilities include increasing employer outreach initiatives to effect training program implementation and employer recruitment initiatives; new program development; and implementation of social media outreach efforts of non-credit programs. Work with a variety of partners, including employers, industry associations, Chambers of Commerce, internal UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ departments, instructors, vendors, and public agencies. Responsible for revenue generation, implementation plan management, and measurement and reporting of results and program improvements. Manage program support staff as required.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Initiate and lead employer engagement resulting in corporate training programs, state and government contracts, and employer sponsored programs.
• Initiate and establish employer outreach strategies to meet the needs of the Industry-Business Institute and Continuing Education and Workforce Development as assigned.
• Develop relationships with prospective and current employer clients to increase sales: identify workplace needs, develop training programs to meet these needs, leading to industry-valued credentials.
• Deliver high quality customized training programs to business clients, working with noncredit staff.
• Attend and engage in local and regional business networking events resulting in meaningful partnerships creating career pathways with employers.
• Manage program staff as required.
• Create promotional materials including, but not limited to, program specific documents for public distribution, non-credit brochure content, social media posts, etc.
• Coordinate and lead employer meetings, advisory boards, and other events as required
• Provide leadership to users of Salesforce as our main CRM for non-credit programs.
• Implement improvements to programs that both reduce time to increase skills and enhance quality of output for client organizations. Correlates and plan for growth, change and new service initiatives as developed by the strategic business objectives of CEWD.
• Develop, measure, and assess outreach programs and campaigns, and participant satisfaction utilizing various tools, such as surveys, questionnaires, etc. as required.
• Forecast and track trends, analyzing collected data.
• Maintain social media and Internet based activities including, but not limited to, non-credit program web pages social media accounts, constant contact outreach initiatives, Jot Form, and others as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
• Master’s Degree required as well as 5+ years’ experience preferred in working with program development and sales to employers.
Experience
• Employer engagement resulting in corporate training, state and government contracts and employer sponsored programs.
• Sales / B2B Outreach Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in corporate business development, corporate training, or institutional workforce solution sales.
• Grant & Compliance Tracking: Demonstrated experience reading, writing, and executing state or federal grant deliverables (such as NJ Department of Labor training grants)
• Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the College community and to exercise tact in dealing with all members of project partners and community.
• Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
• Ability to keep accurate records.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and material in a professional and ethical manner.
Competencies and Skills Required
• Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and work in a diverse team environment.
• Minimum of 4-7 years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, continuing education, training, program administration, or a related field required.
• Ability to establish relationships through networking and direct calling with prospective and existing clients, and business community groups at multiple levels.
• Excellent customer services skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in use of digital tools including, but not limited to: Salesforce, JotForm, Constant Contact, Facebook, LinkedIn
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical skills.
• Should operate effectively under minimal supervision.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• Local travel required.
Salary | $70,000

Terms of Employment | Full Time. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evenings, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Travel within New Jersey and U.S. required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
