POSITION GOAL:
Assist the Superintendent in the daily operations of the school district, specifically in the areas of curriculum, instruction, staff development and educational technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Superintendent in the administration and coordination of the district's educational program.
- Manage the Curriculum Development, Instruction Process, Utilization of Educational Technology, and Staff Development in the District.
- Supervise K-12 Principals
- Review of curriculum on a systematic schedule for revision and rewriting.
- Implements new curricula and programs.
- Serve as a liaison to the Curriculum and Special Education Committee.
- Administer the textbook selection and adoption program.
- Administer the application of and administration of all Federal programs.
- Manage the instructional process for the District and work with building administrators in the observation of professional staff.
- Responsible for shared oversight of the District's educational technology program to assure that the District technology resources are aiding the instruction of students and providing data to instructional staff and administrators to drive the decision-making process.
- Oversee the District assessment process, assisting District administration and teachers in making data-driven decisions for instruction of students.
- Oversee the staff development process for professional staff.
- Maintain liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum, instruction and educational technology at the county, state, regional and national levels.
- Represent the Superintendent at appropriate meetings and conferences and assume the duties of the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
- Master's Degree plus five years' administrative experience. Doctorate preferred.
- Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; and to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with other administrators, teachers, parents, students, governing board members, support staff, colleagues, and outside professional contacts.
- Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
- Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12 months.
- Salary and benefits according to the agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Assistant Superintendent.
