 I. JOB OVERVIEW 
Job Description Summary:  | The Assistant Vice President, Events is a key driver behind some of GW’s high-profile and strategic events. This role brings together executive leaders, senior volunteers, distinguished alumni, and campus partners to create memorable experiences that advance the university’s mission. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Engagement & Annual Giving, you will help shape events that reflect institutional priorities, strengthen high-level relationships, and showcase GW at its best.

The Assistant Vice President, Events Will be the most senior events position at the University An executive position at the university that, in addition to leading a major function at the organization, has enterprise-wide scope and leads and manages the staff of the unit to strategically accomplish university goals 
Responsibilities

Responsible for strategic planning and oversight of university events and leadership events including but not limited to those high-level events within University Advancement and the Office of the President Determines, directs, and implements all aspects of major University events including programming, staffing levels, and creative execution. Provide budget management and monitor expenses. Oversees teams responsible for executing Advancement & University events on and off campus ensuring the logistical, technical and financial operations meet university expectations for all events Collaborate with Advancement senior staff and university officials on university initiatives and strategic priorities as it relates to events. Provide post-event analysis to assess success, gather feedback and implement improvements for the future.

Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:  | Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, Master’s degree, or higher, in a relevant area of study preferred. Relevant experience must include at least 2 years of senior leadership/executive level experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:  | Ability to lead teams and build strong relationships with campus partners Expertise in managing complex projects from start to finish Experience with cross-functional collaboration to help cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and other key stakeholders Proficiency in managing large budgets Excellent verbal and written communication skills A strong ability to assess complex situations and make decisions, especially when issues arise under tight deadlines. Ability to develop innovative and engaging event concepts. Familiarity with event management software and virtual event platforms can be beneficial. Familiarity in fulfilling the expectations and staffing for high-profile events and event attendees, including Trustees, key donors and alumni leaders, as well as university senior Ability to travel to support events and university leadership as necessary and appropriate
Hiring Range  | $105,123.50 - $176,607.48
