JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Revenue Sharing Strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This individual will report directly to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Governance and Regulatory Affairs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: serve as main compliance office contact for select varsity sports and internal/external constituents related to all NCAA Bylaws; assist in developing and conducting a comprehensive rules education program for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and other constituencies; assist in monitoring all aspects of compliance; serve as a resource for student-athletes, coaches, staff members and the university community regarding NCAA rules, and provide interpretations related to all NCAA bylaws; submit NCAA and conference waivers, and reinstatement cases; investigate potential NCAA violations, and report as necessary through the NCAA Applications Portal; track and educate on new or revised NCAA bylaws and conference policies; serve as liaison with the BIG EAST Conference on compliance matters; update, create, and execute necessary policies and procedures to assist in demonstrating institutional controls and an atmosphere of compliance; supervise day-to-day operations for the Office of Athletics Compliance; oversee CAPS, NIL Go, and assist in revenue sharing distribution for student-athletes; assist with NCAA reporting, including, Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Success Rate (GSR), and Sport Sponsorship; provide game day support for various sporting events, including review of complimentary admissions; collaborate with various university departments related to student-athlete support services, including Residential Life, Dining Services, International Student & Scholar Services, and the UConn Bookstore; and perform other related duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Governance and Regulatory Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. or Master’s degree in Sport Management or related field.
  • Five years of NCAA rules compliance experience (within the past seven years) from a Division I compliance office, a collegiate athletic conference and/or the NCAA, including demonstrated experience with the NCAA Applications Portal, CAPS, and NIL Go.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA compliance and proven ability to appropriately apply rules while assisting coaches and staff in achieving objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce reliable results, regularly exercise good judgment, and problem solve.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior NCAA compliance experience with a Division I institution.
  • NCAA compliance experience at multiple institutions.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience with the submission of NCAA and conference waivers and student-athlete reinstatement requests.
  • Prior experience with a recruiting software system.
