The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is seeking an Associate Dean for Clinical Practice Operations. The Associate Dean provides additional leadership for the school to achieve its strategic goals and is expected to work collaboratively with all other Senior Associate Deans, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and the faculty to assure a culture of educational excellence, faculty leadership, discovery and scholarship and innovative practice. In this capacity, the Associate Dean for Clinical Practice Operations ensures that programs meet the highest standards of quality, comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements and fosters an environment where faculty and students can thrive in achieving academic excellence. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads projects using innovation, agility, change management and project management tools and techniques in order to ensure the school's ability to successfully implement a transformation agenda.
- Leads the operation of the Emory Nursing Learning Center including management of simulation personnel, space, equipment and supplies, and fiscal accountability.
- Identifies new opportunities and initiatives related to the mission of the NHWSN and the ENLC.
- Oversees the operations of the Emory Nursing Learning Center, including simulation facility operations, administration, personnel, financial management, growth, and efficiency.
- Secures, maintains, and extends ENLC accreditation, in collaboration with the Associate Dean and VP of Academic Affairs, through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and ensures ongoing compliance with accreditation standards.
- Oversees the identification and routine monitoring and assessment of strategic priorities, objectives, and targets for the simulation program.
- Refines quality improvement initiatives based on annual assessments and periodic feedback from campus stakeholders.
- Pursues business development opportunities in support of simulation-based and interprofessional activities in collaboration with the Chief Engagement Officer, The Associate Dean, Finance, the VP for Academic Partnerships, and other leaders throughout the school.
- Oversees ENLC marketing and information management, including media and website maintenance, in collaboration with the Chief Engagement Officer & NHWSN Communications Office.
- Provides leadership to develop ENLC simulation employees which leads to SSH accreditation, additional certifications, professional development and participation in state, national and international professional associations.

- Office of Clinical Practice Innovation and Operations:
- Partners with the Associate Dean for Education to operationalize innovation in the transformation of academic nursing education and practice initiatives through clinical placements.
- In partnership with Vice President for Academic Practice Integration and Partnerships facilitate the implementation and evaluation of future-oriented academic practice partnerships through clinical placements.
- Partner with the Associate Dean of Education and the Office of Education to operationalize innovation in nursing education through clinical placement initiatives.
- Simulation:
- As the executive leader, the Associate Dean has oversight of the Assistant Dean for Simulation Education and supports Society for Simulation in Healthcare accreditation, additional certifications, professional development and participation in state, national and international professional associations.
- Pursue business development opportunities in support of simulation-based and interprofessional activities in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Simulation Education.
- Secure, maintain, and extend ENLC accreditation, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Simulation Education, through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards.
- Oversight of Integrated Memory Care (IMC):
- As the executive leader, has oversight of the Sr. Assistant Dean for Administration and Operations who manage the financials and operation oversight of the Integrated Memory Care Clinic and Integrated Memory Care Community.
- Create and implement workflow and processes for key operation functions Integrated Memory Care Clinic and Integrated Memory Care Community with responsibility for staff supervision, budget, and performance.
- Lead projects using innovative, agile, and project management tools and techniques in the strategic development, change management, and implementation ensuring the school’s ability to successfully implement a transformation agenda.
- Oversight of Emory Nursing Experience (ENE):
- Pursue new partnership opportunities with regional, national, and international organizations to expand the brand recognition and facilitate nursing professional development.
- As the executive leader, has oversight of the Sr. Assistant Dean for Administration and Operations, manage the Financials and operation oversight of the ENE.
- As the lead for the ENE, develop the strategic plan, setting performance metrics, and assuring financial solvency.
- Leadership:
- The Associate Dean will work collaboratively with other Associate/Assistant Deans, faculty members, and administrators across the university to ensure NHWSN is successful in its mission.
- Serves as the designee representing the NHWSN as requested for university and external audiences.
- Contributes as a leader in the Dean's Leadership Council, providing broad collaborative leadership, intellectual vision, and guidance of the school's strategic plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree and ten years of related program management experience with a minimum of five years of experience in higher education, continuing education OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- An MBA is preferred.
- An understanding of nursing or related healthcare professions required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, healthcare administration or a related field or a terminal degree at the PhD, DNP, or PhD/DNP dual degree level with certification in simulation and eligible for a faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor (preferred) level.
- Preferred minimum of 10 years’ experience in a combination of simulated-based learning, financial administration and business operations in university, healthcare, or education, both operational and fiscal.
- Operational understanding of university education, its diverse constituents, and complex healthcare organizational structures. Includes work experience/knowledge of clinical care delivery.
- Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and communications skills.
