Position Overview  | Reporting to the Career Center Director, the Associate Director for Career Advising Services serves on the Career Center’s Leadership Team and provides leadership for the Career Advising Team (CAT). CAT consists of 4 Career Development Liaisons who split their time working remotely in the academic colleges and in the Career Center. Under the leadership of the Associate Director, CAT is responsible for developing and delivering programming and customized career advising services to students and alumni based on their affiliated academic colleges

Ensuring that exemplary career services are provided at all times, the Associate Director will work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators in all academic departments and colleges to ensure that students have access to appropriate career development resources and support. In addition, the Associate Director will coordinate career advising services within the Career Center, and will work closely with Employer Relations, Experiential Learning and Events staff to facilitate opportunities for students to engage with internship and career employers.

Career development services provided by the Associate Director and CAT include one-on-one advising, classroom presentations, workshops, career development courses, career assessments, and coordination of events and programs that support student career planning.

Required Experience  | Three years of experience advising college students or adult learners

Required Other  | Abilility to obtain membership in: National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), National Career Development Association (NCDA), Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers (MPACE), Idaho Career Development Association (ICDA), Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), Strong Inventory Cert. – SII, and Myers Briggs Personality Test (MBTI) as budget allows Ability to work a flexible schedule during select mornings, evenings and weekends to address event needs Ability to travel regionally, in-state and out-of-state on a periodic basis
Additional Preferred  | Education Master’s Degree in related field 
Experience:Professional work experience in career counseling, advising/mentoring, student development, or career education Experience developing/implementing program assessments (collecting/analyzing data, and preparing reports and recommendations) 2 years of supervisory experience
Skills/Knowledge/Ability to:Certification in and experience administering and interpreting career assessments (FOCUS, MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, etc.) Effective leadership skills and experience managing, training, and supervising professional staff and/or student employees Strong organizational skills and experience coordinating and implementing programs/projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated in application material Strong computer skills (career center management databases, on-line career technologies, social media, presentation software, etc.) Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate efficiently within a team environment
