Description | Reporting to the Associate Dean/Executive Director, the Associate Director will oversee two offices to ensure a smooth flow of information and resources for three grant-funded programs from New York State: the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), and the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP). This role involves onboarding and managing both undergraduate and graduate assistants, including their hiring, training, and supervision. Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, planning and organizing programs, advising students, conducting workshops, budgeting, and creating reports. The Associate Director will establish, manage, and provide services that promote interest in fields such as science and technology and those that require licensure. This position encourages collaboration and includes overseeing students and working closely with the Associate Dean. This position requires working on Saturdays, traveling to local school districts, and occasionally attending overnight conferences and tours. This position is contingent upon grant funding. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manages the office calendar for student programming and oversee and manage information flow to help facilitate planning. Works closely with the Associate Dean to help coordinate resources and services across two offices. Manages and balances resources across three separate budgets to support student employment. Manages student employment hours and plans and reconciles budgets throughout the year. Coordinates with program leads and institutional departments to balance budgets and ensure accurate reporting. Helps manage classroom operations for pre-collegiate and collegiate students by organizing information and resources for effectiveness. Oversees the assignment of undergraduate and graduate assistants for classes and additional responsibilities and provides evaluations to improve workflow efficiency. Engages with pre-collegiate and collegiate students in person or online to cover topics such as setting academic goals, developing action plans, and organizing follow-up meetings with students and parents. Reviews academic progress, tutoring options, and essential program adjustments to help maintain accurate records for reporting. Facilitates group sessions to cover various subjects, including academics, college admissions, and career exploration. For pre-collegiate participants, collaborates with school counselors to enhance student programming and monitor progress. Assists in preparing and managing student data for reporting to the New York State Education Department, including folders for three programs. Creates contracts for consultants, generates invoices, and addresses encumbrances. Oversees and balances supply orders for three budgets and two offices. Helps monitor student enrollment and program participation. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 3 years of related work experience. At least 2 years of related budget experience. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and demonstrated written communication skills.

Salary/Salary Range | $68,000 - $75,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
