Description | Reporting to the Associate Dean/Executive Director, the Associate Director primarily oversees the day-to-day operations of the Science and Technology Entry Program {STEP) and supports the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) and the Liberty Partnerships Program {LPP). STEP, CSTEP, and LPP are New York State grant-funded initiatives. The position includes work with teachers; curriculum development; program planning and organization; student advising and workshop administration; and budgeting and report creation. The Associate Director will be responsible for assisting with the creation, management, and administration of services that foster interest in fields such as science and technology, as well as in fields that require licensure. The position is highly collaborative and includes oversight of several students and staff members.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to Coordinates and oversees Saturday/Summer Scholars’ Academy programming, including scheduling, teacher supervision, evaluations, and student support. Advises pre-collegiate and collegiate students on academics, tutoring, and program needs while coordinating workshops. Manages budgets, processes payments, reconciles expenses, and prepares consultant contracts and invoices. Maintains student records and data for NYSED reporting and program enrollment across CSTEP, LPP, and STEP. Assists with planning Regents preparation, colloquiums, curriculum development, and instructional materials. Coordinates recognition ceremonies, including invitations, certificates, and event logistics. Organizes student conferences and college tours, including registration, travel, accommodations, and presentations. Travels to local schools, works occasional Saturdays and overnight trips, and performs additional grant-funded duties as assigned.
Qualifications | A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required At least two years of successful administrative experience in educational or social programs are required Proven and progressive experience implementing grant-funded or similar project goals and objectives is required
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s in education administration, public administration, social sciences, guidance and counseling, psychology, student personnel services, or a related field preferred. Experience with budgeting is also desired The candidate should have extensive database management experience and be highly detail-oriented Knowledge of secondary and postsecondary education programs is highly preferred Demonstrated experience in working and developing credibility with low-income and first generation students is desirable
